A car is stolen every eleven minutes in Washington State and the number of auto thefts has risen 60% in the last eight years. The late Norm Maleng started a program Car Theft Initiative to prosecute car thieves and the number of thefts has declined and as the success in prosecuting car thieves has improved. In addition to car theft, gang violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, drugs and other issues are also handled by the Prosecutor's office. Dan Satterberg supervises as office with 260 attorney, a staff of 250 and a budget of approximately $60 million.

Please bring food donations for the Mercer Island Youth & Family Services Pantry. People are in need 12 months a year, not just during the holidays and summer is a slow time for donations. Suggested items include: canned chicken, peanut butter, canned fruit (no fruit salad please) canned vegetables, pasta sauces to name a few. Thanks in advance.
